Estranged couple Choreographer-actor-director Prabhu Deva and his wife Latha filed a petition seeking mutual divorce before a Family Court in Chennai. Both of them appeared before the Family Court judge I Pandurangan and filed the petition seeking to dissolve the marriage solemnized in September 1995. The petition stated that all efforts taken by mediators and elders in their families failed to find a solution and they agreed for mutual consent of divorce.

Latha was an actress untill their marriage and the couple have three children. Following difference of opinion, they were living separately for more than two years.

Prabhu Deva has been romantically linked to Nayanathara and there were media reports about their secret marraige. This affair was the cause of differences between Prabhu Deva and his wife Latha.
