** Maruthi - K series Engine & Bharat Stage IV Norms **

[color=blue]Hi guys...seeing the ads on K-series engine by MARUTHI.....I was just interested in knowing about this K-series engine....and started looking for it....and came across below info...thought may be it will give u some info....so..posted it here....have fun..!![/color]

As per government norms all Indian car manufactures should adopt BS IV ([color=red]Bharat Stage IV – BS 4 norms[/color]) standards before the end of April 2010. The new norms are sure to bring emission norms close to that in European countries. The government has fixed a deadline of April 2010.

To be in track with the latest requirements, Maruti announced the new 2010 version of its popular hatchback Swift. The new Maruti Swift 2010 petrol  includes the latest [color=purple][b]KB[/b][/color] series engine that is already being used in Ritz and others.

The main advantages of K-series engine are its fuel efficiency and pollution control. The new Swift 2010 petrol with K series engine has proved in test labs to deliver maximum mileage of upto 18 kmpl. It also has the new enhanced transmission system for smooth performance. Swift Diesel 2010 model comes with the same award winning DDis engine.

The variants of K series engine are K10 and K12

[b]Maruti K series K10 A-star review :[/b]
K10 is the most basic k series engine used in A-star and Estilo 2009 and is light in weight ,and has great control on emissions and provide a millege near 19 kmpl . Its a 3 cylinder 12 valve 998 cc engine  outputs 67ps at 6200 rpm and a maximum torque of 90 nm at 3500 rpm . The K10 engine is constructed using aluminum , and that account for light weight and smooth operation . Another advantage of K series engine is that it produces less noise and vibrations .

The same engine K10 engine will be available in next generation Alto arriving at the end of this year. currently the price of Alto is 2.85 lac. The new Alto with K-series engine and with a new look will have a new price tag,

[b]Maruti K series K12 Estilo 2009 and Ritz review :[/b]
K12  engine in Ritz is the second generation k series engine that produce more power. This 1.2 litre petrol engine is slightly larger and powerful  . 1197 cc 4 cylinder K12 engine produce 85ps at 6000 rpm and torque 133 nm at 4500 rpm . This  second series of KB engine offer a millege near 18 kmpl .  Second generation K series engine promises less operating cost , improved spark plug life , reduced oil change and valve clearance adjustment time .

Maruti will soon integrate K series engine to Wagon R ,Swift and other compact cars they manufacture in India.
