As far as I know, They took a vote from all PCC chiefs and it was unanimous in favor of Sardar patel. However Gandhi requested all of them to honor his decision to have Nehru as next PM.

When voting was conducted within Congress, almost all the heads of 540+ Princely States voted for S V Patel as the Head of Congress who would become the PM once British handed over power back to Indians.

Not even a single vote was cast for J Nehru to head the Congress and country.
