If H1 works out for you, ignore all other places and go to San Diego. There’s nothing like it weather wise

Thanks, bro. A bit more details regarding tech and H1 changes this year would be appreciated.

You can ask your employer to try for an L Visa to transfer you from UK to US. Unfortunately, US and UK doesn't have a free trade agreement in place like Canada, Mexico, Aus or Singapore so no alternate route

Thanks bro, not possible with the current employer.

The only other option that helps you to work in US  is to come here for a visit and change your status to F1 get a  CPT and then switch to OPT in a hope that you will get a H1B eventually.

You have one more way of coming to US which is to file a EB5 for green card and come to US once you get it. It requires you to invest at least $500,000 to $1 Million. You can borrow that from your line of credit or loan it and invest it, if you want it that way.

Life in England is not as complicated as it is in USA but you can make more money in tech space in US than UK. With expertise you gain in US, you can use the expertise to set up consulting etc back in UK. Education, health and social security system is better in UK, travel and holidays, senior citizen benefits, housing etc are better in UK. For growing up kids, an exposure to world largest economy will be a plus and one the kids gets used to American systems, they may not want to go back to UK and prefer to settle down in USA. Travel, nature, exploring American national parks and holidays, work culture are something you can experience along with warm weather.

Considering you are born in India, GC and Citizenship May be out of reach at the moment but if your kids are born in UK, they can get US GC fairly easily and can even sponsor parents, so GC and Citizenship routes are open always in the future.

UK born children may be eligible for diversity GC, check that one and see if it helps. But for you, H1B is the best bet and you have better chances this year than last year.

Lastly, ipudu ikadiki vachi settle avali ante may not be so easy but if it’s a temp plan to stay here and make money then you are looking at making good money and experiencing American west coast life, it’s very liberal here than UK.

Hi Guys,

Have been following db for a while and saw some genuine discussions regarding jobs and H1.

I'm a British citizen(wife and 6-year-old kid both British citizens) and planning to apply for H1 this year again, tried last year(1 application) with no luck. Are there any other routes to work other than H1?

Has the process changed this year and should I be more careful with the employer? Please let me know if you have any contacts who sponsor H1.

If all goes well, will be in the US by Jan 2025, do you think the job market will improve by then?

I'm a DevOps Engineer(Azure), should I learn any other tech or stick to Azure meanwhile?

Reason to move to the US, relatives and looking to move to a sunny place in the US, considering (Raleigh, Austin, Atlanta, or San Diego) after looking at various discussions in our db.

Not planning to settle or expecting GC, max 5 to 6 years stay in the US.

Please provide your valuable suggestions, it will help me make a life decision.

Thanks.

If you want honest answer here it is…

US is a trap…. Ravadame gane povadam vundadu… with kids it’s more difficult to leave…

h1 vachi job lo land ayyaka nee opinion change avvuddi…. Kids will settled in school and vallani distrub cheyyadam istam vundadu as you have to play millions in rupees for the same standard back in india…

obvious ga high school college anukuntu ikkade Vundi pothav…
