They were done under force of bankruptcy. These reforms took a price - not a single inidan manufacturing company exists now in consumber durables except a few auto companis. everything from tv to fridge to washing mmachine to cars to cell phones is mostly made by foreign companues. On top of it- they failed to bring investments. which is the only good thing about this. CBN also adopted these reforms like PVN-MMS.
