Update:
The bank investigated and said my credit card was set to expire 02/24 so they sent out a new card. The new card has the same card number but a new expiry date. The new card was already activated before they sent me. This card was lost in mail, someone who found it made the purchases because the card was already active.

Bank agreed that I do not need to pay the $1200 fraud amount

Please Help

Some fraudster made a purchase using my credit card in Home Depot store using  “chip” read ie they inserted the card in the chip reader and completed purchase

However my credit card was with me all the time and I am at home

How is this possible? Did you hear “chip” credit card being cloned ?

Bank says I have to pay this charge and it’s 1050$

Please guide me on how to proceed

Old post:

My BOA visa credit card was charged with $1050 last night at a Home Depot store 10 miles away from my home

Credit card is with me and Home Depot store told someone bought Visa gift cards by swiping (chip insert) the card in store

I complained BOA about this, they blocked/ reissued a  new card

I am not sure how someone could use my card In chip reader while i still have my card with me? Looks like they cloned etc?

The charges are still showing as pending on my credit card, BOA told they will have an investigation on this

Please tell if I will be asked to pay these charges - how does this investigation etc. work

Have you used your chip enabled card in any gas ️ station recently? You won’t be charged as it comes under fraud liability.

if what you’re saying is genuine and bank is not helping you, start a complaint with CFPB. You’ll get your money back within two weeks

Do no save password in browsers, use a password manager for all financials accounts and do not use main email for banks but use a proton free email\

i believe there are some vulnerabilities on the browsers, this is where passwords and card numbers are leaking

No bank says you have to pay the money if you claim that it's a fraudulent transaction. What are you smoking?

I am 100% sure it was not me and I have the card with me at that time (I did not loose or misplace the card)

I will check about CFPB and complain
