Aizawl: In a heartbreaking incident, the family of 28-year-old Debbie Vanlalhlimsangi, a Mizo girl residing in Delhi, was left devastated after her remains were cremated by authorities before her family received news of her tragic accident. Hailing from Keifang in Mizoram, Debbie met with an unfortunate accident in Noida, Delhi, and her identity was established through CCTV footage, as reported by local sources in Zalen.

Debbie, who had recently resigned from her position at the company Qnet in Delhi, was planning to relocate to Bangalore. She had already booked a ticket for her journey scheduled on February 22. The night of February 18 saw her sharing a meal with friends. However, after she left for home, her friends failed to establish contact with her the following day. Concerned about her well-being, an FIR was filed at the Delhi police station Express 135 on February 20.

With no progress in the investigation, Debbie's family in Keifang reported the incident to the Saitual police station on February 22. Additional SP J Rokima swiftly contacted Saitual SP Pukraj Kamal, IPS Delhi, who promptly initiated action. On the evening of February 22, the Noida police station in Sector 142 discovered a body during their investigation, which seemed to match Debbie's identity based on the clothing observed in the CCTV footage.

Due to the absence of anyone to identify the body for an extended period of 72 hours, the authorities proceeded to cremate the body after conducting a post-mortem examination. Police authorities suspect that Debbie might have been hit by a car while attempting to cross the highway.

The community in Keifang mourned the untimely demise of Debbie, holding a funeral at the family's residence. The incident has left the family in shock and grief, raising questions about the communication process and the handling of such sensitive matters by the authorities.

I just read about the Delhi Police cremating the Mizo woman’s remains before her family was informed. Honestly, that's heartbreaking and upsetting. Losing someone is already challenging, but not getting to say a proper goodbye makes it even worse. It’s a reminder of how important it is for authorities to communicate clearly with families during such sensitive times. When remembering our loved ones, it’s essential to have something lasting, like Granite Headstones. They offer a way to keep memories alive and provide a place to visit and reflect. This situation highlights how we need to respect and honor those who've passed, allowing their families the dignity of closure.

This reminds of  Yadhi Reddy who sacrificied his life for telangana in Delhi. And how then AP employees tried to cremate him without intimating parents.
