A few weeks ago, Konidela Nagababu stationed himself in Anakapalle constituency by renting a house here. This added to the expectation that he could contest Anakapalle Lok Sabha constituency on Janasena ticket. But things changed quickly after Nagababu silently exited from Anakapalle. He is not likely to get this seat, particularly after BJP has joined the TDP-JSP alliance.

Now that Nagababu has vacated the Anakapalle Lok Sabha seat, BJP appears to have thrown its kerchief on the segment. Reportedly, BJP’s CM Ramesh is aspiring to contest from Anakapalle MP segment.

Anakapalle MP segment is heavily influenced by Kapu and Velama community voters and being a Velama community individual, CM Ramesh naturally stands at an advantage here. He shares a good rapport with the TDP leaders locally so the vote transfer could also be a smooth one. So he is being seen as the favorite to get the Anakapalle MP ticket, say media reports.

As of now, BJP ‘s CM Ramesh is likely to occupy the Anakapalle Lok Sabha seat that has been vacated by Nagababu, but nothing is finalized for the time being. More clarity is expected to emerge once TDP and JSP hold a meeting with AP BJP leaders, as advised by central BJP leaders.
