"Visakhapatnam: YSRCP received approximately 158 crore between Jan and April 2019 in electoral bonds, prior to the general elections.
The then-ruling TDP settled for about 98 crore during this period. TDP already received 118 cr through electoral bonds in Jan-Feb ’24."

In contrast, YSRCP got a mere 3 crore in the same period of 2024. Even political newcomer Jana Sena outperformed YSRCP in Jan 2024 by securing 17 crore, which is part of its total 21 crore received through bonds over the past four years.
In all, YSRCP’s coffers swelled by about 500 crore since the inception of the electoral bond scheme in 2018, including 337 crore after April 2019 and 165 crore before the 2019 polls. Similarly, TDP’s funding grew by about 320 crore in bonds between 2018 and 2024. New entrant Jana Sena is the only unrecognised party in the country to receive electoral bonds, having earned 21 crore in the last four years.
Over the last five months (Oct 2023 to Feb 2024), TDP secured 131 crore in funding, whereas the ruling party settled for 61 crore. This implies that TDP received double the funding of YSRCP in the last five months.
According to a political analyst, corporates and individuals do a lot of math and analysis based on available inputs for them before donating to a particular party. “This often reflects the mood of the public. For example, YSRCP got more funding than the then-ruling TDP before the 2019 polls. Their trust in YSRCP came true when the results of 2019 elections were announced. Based on the funding statistics, the same organisations are now rooting for the TDP-Jana Sena alliance. This can be understood from the huge funding received by even Jana Sena,” he said.
However, the leader of a political party said these donations often depend on the perceived benefits the buyer expects from a party if it retains power, or is expected to assume office in the next elections, or mutual trust between them.
“The funding flow may not always correlate with the poll outcomes,” he said.
