Yeah.. but that works for independents in some constituencies.. 

But state level or national level lo party ga registration, same symbol across all constituencies, identical name people tho contesting - this takes 1-2 years of planning ahead or may be more..

As I said earlier, this trick is as old as elections in India. This was more common in previous years than today.

Some one with similar name, used to file nomination and they still do and negotiate with front runner candidate and make a settlement and withdraw nomination...deenki planning ledu paadu ledu, someone with same or similar name, similar looking symbol...ballot paper aithe lengthy vuntadi and with that print, some symbols appear similar and ie trick rampant ga use chesetollu
