AP Polling In 12 Hrs: All The Numbers You Must Know

The polling process in Andhra Pradesh will start at 7 AM tomorrow, May 13 and here is a look at the numbers that the AP voters and public in general must know before D-day.

In 2019, the polling percentage was 79.84% which is a pretty healthy number in itself. Coming to 2024, the Election Commission is anticipating the polling to be in the range of 83% which is a mighty big number. The usual conception is that the higher the polling percentage, the higher the possibility of anti-incumbency.

The polling will start at 7 AM and go on till 6 PM in 169 assembly constituencies. In Araku, Paderu and Rampachodavaram, the polling will be till 4 PM. In Palakonda, Kurupam, and Saaluru, the polling will go on till 5 PM. This is due to the fact that these are agency areas and late hour polling is risky here.

The total number of registered voters is 4.14 crore and if the projected 83% of polling is registered, then nearly 3.3 crore people will vote in the AP assembly and parliament elections.

A total of 5.26 lakh employees have been deployed on election duties and a total of 46,389 polling stations with 1.6 lakh EVMs are being used for the electoral roll.

Vizag Lok Sabha has 33 contestants which is the highest in the state. Tirupati assembly has 46 which again is the highest for any assembly segment.

Lastly, YS Jagan is the MLA contestant with the highest number of cases (26) against him. The richest MP candidate is TDP’s Guntur contestant Pemmasani Chandrasekhar who declared over Rs 5705 crore assets.
