Dubai kottha international airport kattaka situation may change ani vinna appatlo.

Still it wont work in Vijayawada airport's favor?

DXB or the new Dubai World Central, has nothing to do with seats. It's a bilateral agreement signed by the two countries and the airport location has nothing to do with it. A state CM or Civil Aviation Minister can barely influence this decision. International agreements kada, lot of things will be considered apart from mere demand which itself is not enough to run even weekly twice service.

You mean an MP pushing a privately run airline for a direct service to Mumbai?

Hardcore Pulkas claim its Ram Mohan Naidu at work from day 1. You claim its Bala Soury's pushing for past few months, in that case credit should be given to YCP Govt. Isn't it ?

Adega annadi.. mind less cadre for a reason

Really.....ur hate does not change facts! Idea was proposed by CBN, clearances came during NDA/TDP regime. Neeku bokka bhi telidani ardhamaay

Planning (2015–2018)[edit]

The proposal for setting up a Greenfield airport was planned during the N. Chandrababu Naidu government in 1997 under the Andhra Pradesh state at Visakhapatnam. Alternate sites like Sabbavaram, Achyutapuram and Koruprolu were also considered[1]. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) gave its technical approval of the project site in June 2015.[2] The request for proposals (RFP) for the project was issued in July 2016, and AAI and the GMR Group submitted their technical and financial bids in August 2017.[3]

The current Visakhapatnam Airport is a civil enclave on a naval airfield which operates only limited international flights due to its status as a "restricted international airport", while the Navy proposed the flying slots for civilians in the existing airport and hence suffers from constraints.[4][5]

Pre-Construction (2019–2022)[edit]

The airport's foundation stone was laid by the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N. Chandrababu Naidu on 14 February 2019,[6][7][8][9] with initial plans to develop the mega aerotropolis on an estimated 5,311 acres of land, consisting of Bhogapuram Airport, cargo facilities, an MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) facility and an aviation academy. The government has only acquired 2,703 acres of land because of land agitation from locals,[10] including 1,673 acres of government land allotted for the project.[11]

An in-principle approval has been granted for the project, that would be developed by the government of Andhra Pradesh under a public–private partnership (PPP) basis.[12] A pre-bid meeting was held in August 2018, for which 13 developers showed interest in developing this airport. The government finally approved the GMR Group,[13] who also operates the international airports of Indira Gandhi International Airport at New Delhi and Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Hyderabad.

However, the successive YSRCP government fixed 2,200 acres to GMR Group and reduced the land for the purpose while keeping aside 500 acres of land under the state government.[11] The airport would be constructed on a final 2,200-acre site in and around Bhogapuram that serves the city of Visakhapatnam. It would be built by GMR Visakhapatnam International Airport Limited (GVIAL), a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) owned by the GMR Group that was set up in June 2020.[14] The project would be taken up in the PPP mode with the state holding a stake in the form of land holdings.[15]

The proposed airport is 45 km away from Visakhapatnam, 25 km away from Vizianagaram and 63 km away from Srikakulam cities. The airport majorly serves the North Coastal Andhra region and is expected as a major source of employment in the region. The region is connected to the proposed airport by National Highway 16, National Highway 26 currently and also through Vizag beach corridor and Vizag metro in the future. While APSRTC plans to run connecting buses to nearby cities, Vizianagaram junction is the nearest railway station at a distance of 26 km.

Ori nee bathayyo...New slots kaadu ra ayya, new airports.

GMR odiki state govt ki 30 year clause vundi, not to set up new airports in 200 km radisu for 30 years and 30 years tarvata GMR will have to give noc if there is any other airport coming up..

deeniki slots ki link ledu amma Bangaram...

Lufthansa ki 10 years pattadam endi ra babu, Luft was flying to Hyd in early 2000's and they discontinued citing profitability and monna Jan 2024 lo they resumed again, that's because of code share agreement with Air India and a possible airline alliance by Air India, Singapore and Lufthansa.

Also, Lufthansa ki slots issue ledu...they have slots available and carrier capacity kuda available...its an underserved market for India and Germany. Means, if an Indian carrier or German carrier wants to start a service, they can do so righaway as the seats/weekly capacity if not full.

Enduku ra apple banana VP Ayita v...

Arey babu...indaka clea rga seppina..Germany-India is an underserved market, weekly capacity exhause avadu...10 years aina 100 years aina unless airline revokes the slot, the slot will be available and they will usually rent out the slot to other airlines...anthe kani 10 years back bandh ayindi malli 10 years patindi kadu vishayam ikada...

Emirates ki new slots ivakudu kadu, ivadaniki ledu...weekly quota is exhausted and no new slots and seats available until they re-negotiate. They ante UAE and India govt.

Germany and UAE are different and both have their own individual aviation policy.
