Categorization of caste stuck in 19th century?

Controversial topic but not intended to offend anyone.......

oka caste Upper, backward, SC and ST ani 1950 lo baseline chesesaru.... but history says otherwise....

Marathas under Shivaji established powerful Maratha empire but they are demanding reservation and BC status....

Krishnadeva raya caste and descendants are claiming for BC status....

Yadavs who descended from Krishna Bhagwan are categorized as BCs......

Nanda dynasty once all powerful that ruled North India 2000 years ago... their caste and descendants are claiming BC status....

Lots of forest Kingdoms and their chiefs were very powerful once upon a time and had a claim over Forest dwellings and villages spreading hundreds of sq kms come under ST status and have reservation....

caste status and reservation is not wrong... but in a country like India which has heritage and history of more than 5000 years how can one caste or group of people who saw extreme highs and lows can be just categorized that too final categorization as backward or non backward between 1947 and 2024?
