Based on that , its easy to imagine how the world is going to be 50 years from now. So, if you are making someting thats 2898 AD, it should be more advanced than 2100AD that we can already imagine. There should be things like different kinds of humans like those who can regrow or modify their body, those who merge with machines, people who completely turn into machines and start living outside of earth. 

This movie would have made sense if it was made 20 years ago. Hollywood was making things with similar concepts back then.

Now Hollywood atleast talks about things like nano tech, time travel etc(they are still not up to the mark though). But our people are still in that backward mindset making nonsensical movies.

Even if it is a fantasy movie, it has to be little believable.

Good thing is that common people don't know what is going around in this world. So they will make it a hit.
