How long does Tatkal Indian Passport renewal take?

I booked my flight tickets to India.

A week before my flight, checked that my Indian passport expired. 

Anyone knows how long does Tatkal Indian Passport Renewal take?

Once the passport is ready is there an option to pick it up directly from VFS rather than waiting for the mail?

3 days.  fly down to a vfs location and submit docs in person. Tell them you have a flight next week and stay there and get it the next day or 2

You get passport in 3 days once all documents are in order. In case of tatkal they issue passport first then do initiate police verification in india. I applied tatkal last year in washington dc embassy.
