There are many reasons to select as Vance as VP candidate, One of the reason is he is catholic and so is Biden, Majority voted for Trump in 2016 and Biden in 2020

In 2016 they voted for Trump and in 2020 majority voted for Biden

They consider multiple reasons for selecting VP

The reason they selected him is because Trump wanted to target Rush Belt areas which includes PA,MI,WI and Vance is from that rush belt region and PA being the one with most electoral votes i.e 19 

and Trump lost the catholic vote in this region in 2020

Trump lost all categories not just catholic. Vance is from Ohio a safe red state, not PA. Trump is confident on winning so he's going with a yes man. Going to be disaster with no one that can deal with congress.

Yes Trump face value medane gelichadu, But does not mean that evaru padithe vallani select cheyaru and no one wants to take a risk and actually vance was selected by Trump right before the debate.
