Twitter and WA excerpts are quite misleading. They only accounted 13% score for the actual quality of life element.

Abortion and LGBTQ rights etc. played a big role I guess. If you are curious this is how they cooked the survey

I mean isn't that how "quality of life" needs to be measured !?? Also FYI - its not just "Abortion & LGBTQ" as you quoted

With unemployment low and workers still in short supply, companies are seeking to locate in states that can attract a broad array of talent. That makes quality of life an economic imperative. We rate the states on livability factors like per capita crime rates, environmental quality, and health care. We look at worker protections. We look at inclusiveness in state laws, including protections against discrimination of all kinds, as well as voting rights, including accessible and secure election systems. With studies showing that childcare is one of the main obstacles to employees returning to the workforce, we consider the availability and affordability of qualified facilities. And with surveys showing a sizeable percentage of younger workers would not live in a state that bans abortion, we factor reproductive rights in this category as well.

This to me is fair and square.

It could be your choice to live in a Red state for your own reasons. But that doesn't define QOL for everyone else. We desi's live in suburbs & exurbs mostly and call the state to be clean, safe, affordable and whatnot. You should know that surveys like these cover a large spectrum of people from center of a metro to a tiny town.

This is since you just bought up "safe" - Of the top 10 states for violent and petty crimes per capita, 8 or often 9 of them are Red states, so that you know. https://www.forbes.com/advisor/legal/criminal-defense/crime-rate-by-state/

Anta avasaram ledulee .. About 200k, you are good in CA. If you are in Sacramento or LA, probably a little less.
