Similarly people from Anantapur and Kadapa may prefer Kannada. People from Srikakulam may want to learn Odia. Tamilnadu has that sort of choice. I have seen some people learning Hindi, others French/German. There are significant French people in Pandicheri. Do Hindi people learn any of south Indian laguages like we learn Hindi? We had it as a subject until 9th. I can read, write and talk in Hindi. Never felt it was imposed on us. May be its just some people's opinion. THey already know a language - telugu or tamil. Mother tongue may be optional in CBSE but how can they do mother tongue optional in motherland? that to hindi is compulsory where Telugu as optional?
