Yes it is easy to do this analysis -AFTER THE FACT - imagine you being in that situation - you may have family and kids at home - how do you know that he was making only empty threats. Most people have an instinct to preserve themselves in the face of threats.

Bottomline - a severe lack of education of how these things in US work - 99% of the times you behave like that - you will get smoked and rightly so.

Do you want to wait till someone point the gun on your face? Someone approching you with a gun in threating manner is enough to act in self-defence.

Even illegally, it would be difficult with gun control.

And someone who bought it illegally wouldn't wave it carelessly like that.

This could be true in some parts of south east asian countries or southern Ind. , this fare poorly in comparison with the US. Even in north ind. with all the restrictions in place and IOF arms costing a arm and leg, there are countless single shot tapanchas everywhere including heart of Delhi.

What makes you think a person procured a firearm illegally would be not careless and would be a model citizen ? What would be his intent behind an illegal firearm? .. Here goes the gun control argument out of the window, where only criminals have access to guns. He was exactly that "Careless". He did unholster his weapon, waving and aggressively approaching another car and hitting the glass, even he did all this without a gun in hand..even then the other driver can claim self defense. An automobile is considered castle according to the castle doctrine law, AFAIK.  Indiana ranks #1 in the US in gun freedom laws.

You proved my point with the first statement....single shot. Legal is leading to assault rifles in schools.

Regarding second point....he was careless. It would be beyond careless if it was illegal.

That single shot tapanchas are illegal, generally a couple of thousand inr and are made around bulandsehar. Well, this isn't to prove anything of sort, just stating the law of the land. Gun control is a mondaine dream, never in near future could become a reality in the US particulary, we are talking about 400 million arms in circualtion. We certainly can wish for it, except that would not be possible is the reality and we could make arrangements to mitigate it ..like which state to settle etc., accordingly.

Let me clear on this Kaka... if you draw a weapon especially a Gun in US to threat somebody then the Stand Your Ground law will comes into picture automatically.  Most of the Americans exercise this law (especially Caucasians groups) regularly.. they even have classes for this on how to defend themselves and apply this law by having regular demos.

They love this kind of encounters and are more happy to fire their weapon in these kind of situation.

This is the primary reason as to why guns are dangerous to society.

People are idiots.

The suspected shooter, Hibschman said, was detained at the scene.

"Upon further investigation and after consultation with Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, that individual was released," the police spokesperson said, indicating the shooter may have acted in self-defense.
