B1/B2 Visa renewal for Parents...Are drop box slots available easily?

My parents B1/B2 visa getting expired in August 2025. When is the good time to start the process? I am aware that we can renew visas 6 months before expiry. Are drop box slots easily available? I've read all B1/B2 renewals are taking place in New Delhi & many people are being asked for an interview?!!
