I94 is not updated for visitor

My Inlaws are visiting us. Father in law's i94 is not found on CBP website. Is it mandatory to have a record? Someone said I need to go to near by airport to get their record updated.

Edit - Interesting thing is that I could find their record in travel history but not getting any records when checking for most recent i94. This is their first visit to the USA.

Previously, you have stamps to prove valid entry....I believe they made it electronic and did away with stamping passports. if i94 doesn't show up, check travel history. If its not there too, I'd say head to the nearest cbp deferred inspection facility. Google to know what it means.

Visit CBP office near to you.

Two possibilities: 1. Either you are entering incorrect info or 2. Mistake by CBP officer.

In my case at port of entry my spouse and me went together, the officer entered my wife details but not mine and said good to go. Just before boarding connection the boarding gate got a call from CBP to send me back to immigration. They fixed the issue because they found the mistake before I left.

Call your nearest deferred inspection and see what they say. most likely they should issue them an electronic i94 immediately since there is an existing electronic record of arrival. Go visit if not. This is important to establish their proof of legal entry. call them to avoid a trip of never ending wait at the facility.

Called CBP deferred station office number. They are not saying anything other than office hours for i94 update.

Let me check. I submitted a request online 1 month back, they simply gave some general response and did nothing - [email protected].

Let me see if I can send an email to correction.

Nope, this is not the appropriate email, it may end up nowhere or u get a generic response to contact inspection site nearby, after a month or 2. It goes to a global cbp center and no one really looks into it. Email specific deferred inspection site.

Might need when you want to extend the stay, otherwise shouldn't be a problem.

Could be an issue during later visits. Period of stay is issued entirely based on previous legal entries and periods of stay. Wont be an issue most of the times, but you never know. Its always at immigration officers' discretion. No court can help you.
