Looking for second car mostly SUV.One of my friends suggestd to go with pick up truck as these days they are becoming more sleek in design and the gap between traditional crossovers and pickups are narrowing. Also if you own a single family, it comes very handy to haul away stuff, blah blah blah.

Any one in this group who own pick up trucks wanna share your insight?

Also any recommendations? my need is to be used a secondary car, can be a compact/mid size truck to help with gardening stuff or any other haul away items. Toyota Tacoma and Nissan Frontier looks good in mid size category.

Interested to hear db thoughts?

I own a V8 Dodge 1/2 ton. Slightly older though. Newer ram 1500 with hemi are a lot better. Very sturdy will last you atleast 400,000 miles. It also has v6 option if you don't like V8.

Then you have a Nissan Frontier which may fit your needs much better. If you are able to pickup 2015+ models for right price, it's a good deal too.

If you want more car like trucks then Hyundai Santa Cruz will do the job too.

@SaradaChinnodu Another option is not to go for a truck since you already have an SVU. Buy a small utility trailer that you can attach to an SUV when you need to haul something. Buy a regular 2nd car or a bigger SUV.

Kaka neeku Pickup truck enduku asalu... If you drive it office which is located in downtown areas you will curse your self.

Do you engage in sports like trekking, hiking, camping outdoors, surfing, sport fishing , kayaking or Farming etc  then you may find it needy otherwise it is not needed.

Just check how many occasions you are going to Haul the stuff ..? if it crosses more than 40 then think about it... otherwise it would be white elephant for you.

You need any vehicle with good towing power. Pickup truck if you have tonn of gear and require boot space that you carry around.

If you are towing a trailer, rv or a boat you can go for vehicles with better drive train built for heavy towing..not necessarily  a pickup truck. Chevy suburban is ideal .. 4runner

there are better options than Tacoma in the same segment unless you want Toyota reliability. Real world mileage is 18 or less
