Both the central and state governments of India levy taxes on petrol and diesel. The central authorities apply excise duty at the rates of Rs.19.90/litre and Rs.15.80/litre respectively. This rate remains the same throughout the country.

On top of this, the state governments levy VAT, sales tax and other additional charges. The rates of these taxes tend to vary, leading to a difference in petrol and diesel prices across India.

Discourage farming aa ? Please do that

Almost 60% of India produce comes from agriculture as of now, if you discourage you will see it's consequences

Investing in industries and education 1991 nunchi start ayindi, infact Modi completely destroyed MSME sector in his tenure as of now

Hiking petrol, to balance inflation and top businessmen 16 lakh crore runamafi ?

how come it is non sensical ?

China forcefully stop lot of people from farming which lead to it becoming five times the size of India.

Farming should be done by Industries and that is how economies of scale comes into picture.

You can't use heavy machinery on small parcels of land.

Investing in Industries started in 1991 but still is a small percentage of our budget.

You need to research more.

In theoretical world, its does makes sense but imagine this commonditybis sonprine to market fluctuations, international relations, dollar appreciation, interest rates and middle east instability, we really cannot go that way….the primary aim is steady supply and availability which is 100% achieved. Coming to the price dips, this is not a domestic product where we can control on the product, there are heavy investments made in this sector and it should run in profits. When profits evaporate, you will see the system completely falling apart creating shortage of fuel..…at least we did not have to face such a day yet.

So minting from working middle class is justified end of the day antav. Petrol price raise chesi , money making ani choopinchadam la undhi

Rising petrol prices: What Narendra Modi said before 2014 and his govt did in 4 years

In May 2012, when petrol prices were hiked by steepest Rs 7.54 a litre, Narendra Modi had called it a failure of UPA government. Today, petrol is the costliest in India in all of South Asia.

BJP attacks Karnataka govt over fuel price hike

The BJP accused the Congress government in Karnataka of poor financial management after petrol price hikes. The party said that they will protest against the decision on Monday. The government announced a substantial increase in petrol and diesel prices, drawing criticism from citizens and opposition. The BJP lambasted the timing of the hike post-election, calling for its withdrawal due to the financial strain it places on the public and various industries in the state.

Great nimmala emo cong oil bonds dues are the reason for price increase ani mentioned . Until 2022

How much they paid for the oil bond until 2022 ?

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that she would not be able to cut excise duties on fuel anytime soon. The reason for this? On Monday, August 16, she stated it was because the Union government has to pay off oil bonds issued during the UPA regime. "A significant amount is going for interest payment and principal repayment. What unfair burden on me," she said.
