 this is common in regional politics because of high polarization ,look at DMK ,admk in 90's and 2000's landslide victories followed by worst defeats in history.

BJP is not that naive. They don't let YCP die. Jagan & his party voted pro BJP on bills,but are differing with them on UCC and supposed sale of Vizag steel plant. Killing YCP politically means transferring the Jagan vote bank back to Congress. That's not a desired outcome for them. But that's what Baboru hopes and wants to happen. 

Sharmila or anyone else can't make Congress alive again, so long as Jagan stands in their way. PK is a show man. Baboru uses him, BJP is now using him to counter Baboru monopoly in the governance. 

Elections are different thing. Regardless of anyone else belief, I strongly believe that these results are during E#V#M. Ideally Modi lost this time. They lost Orissa, Maha, Andhra.

The results in Andhra if viewed on a Gaussian distribution model (% votes vs Seats, % votes polled vs Majorities) will stand at least 2 Std. dev. from the mean. That anomaly can't simply be explained by Anti-incumbency. On the ground, Jagan has a lot of base and will continue to have it.

The same can be said for 2020 US election and elections in Russia as well. There is a much larger geo-political play happening, and the last thing Modi-Shah want to have is more opposition in India.
