I heard his wife had an affair. His career tanked already. He couldn't handle loosing fame and all that. He should have faced the difficulties instead of giving up. Look at Jagapathi Babu and Raviteja. Uday Kiran should have waited for roles. If not Telugu could have tried other industries.
