@Konebhar6 South FL meets most of your criteria...except the top one.. @~`

Criteria -

  • Good Work Opportunities (during working years) -
  • Less state tax or no tax
  • Growing desi community (not saturated places like NJ, CA, Dallas)
  • Parks. Communities with Good Schools have good parks.
  • Decent Weather based on your preferences
  • Less crime rate.
  • Entertainment and Dining.

No wonder, its a popular destination among non-desis.

Desis and non-desis think differently.

Desis are very social and need to be among their social circle even in retirement to fill relatives/family void.

I asked my office VP who is a white who is preparing for retirement. He moved from Danville, CA to Reno, NV. His home in Danville appreciated to 3M. He bought his home in Reno for around 500k. Basically downsize and low cost region. All his kids are settled in different states. He looked if Reno airport has good connectivity to these states. No State tax. Did not care about social circle.

same concept for ppl living in high value neighborhoods and when they retire there is no point in holding expensive homes. I have seen this in Canadians, coz its their house they bank on for their retirement especially in GTA area and this holds true for any organically appreciated properties.

I have been to various places in 35 of the 50 US States, so far... San Diego, CA is the best... but quite expensive though.. wouldn't retire,there..
