The biggest chunk of green cover was sacrificed for Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL). BMRCL alone sought permission to remove over 6,000 trees and felled 4,599. According to Dattatreya Devare, trustee of Bangalore Environment Trust , nearly 12,000 trees cut over four years is an alarming number.

After staying in India for summer vacation in August for 3 weeks, when I came back to UK, I felt like I came to the Jungle.

Thats how much we miss trees if we live in Indian cities.
