Yes when we were with madras, we had control of one of the biggest cities in the country but telugu people didn't have a collective identity like tamils and conceded the city.

Reservation has nothing to do with DMK ,it was started by national leaders and other parties just used it for votes.

Chennai was developed by British and hyderabad by qutub Shahis/nizam.all our current tier-1 cities are developed  by Muslim rulers or British ,only exception is Pune and to some extent Bangalore which were founded and developed by local rulers.

Unlike hyderabad ,chennai always had a strong telugu population and cultural influence from centuries ,it is even named after a telugu velama nayakar.so telugu people had the same right to chennai as tamil people.
