You can correct the salary information for your STEM OPT employment by updating your DSO (Designated School Official). Here’s what you need to know:

  1. Report the Correction Immediately:
Notify your DSO as soon as possible with the accurate salary details. Provide an updated Form I-983 (Training Plan), which reflects the correct pay.

  2. 10-Day Rule:
The regulations require reporting any material changes (like salary) within 10 days. Since you’re past the deadline, explain the situation to your DSO when submitting the correction. Being proactive reduces the risk of issues.

  3. Will There Be a Problem?
Minor delays are typically not severe if you correct them quickly and provide a valid explanation. However, repeated delays or discrepancies can raise concerns during OPT status reviews or future visa applications.

  4. Next Steps:

    • Update your Form I-983 with accurate salary information.
    • Communicate with your DSO and confirm that the SEVIS record is updated accordingly.

If you’re worried about compliance or potential consequences, consider seeking advice from a legal expert. You can use the Casewise.ai Lawyer database to connect with immigration attorneys for guidance.
