Most Iranian population isn't even that religious ,religion only plays a part of there is rampant poverty like in afghanisthan,pakistan, cow-belt india etc.. 

Iran is a fairly developed country.

I have even met Iranians who are trying to remove arabic influence from their language just like we are trying to removing sanskrit influence from Dravidian languages.
