SBI plan is insurance + investment scheme which is waste. SBI manager good ani chepthadu bcoz he want to sell and meet his targets and get his bonus.

India lo aeithe put money in Nifty50, US aeithe SP500 for relative safe bet over longterm.

Personally I feel sips are better and also to some extent some mutual funds than these Insurance linked plans.

i started these insurance linked plans 10 years ago when im young and i dont see any advantage .. instead i should have chosen a sip.
hindsight is 20/20.

My Insurance plans from Axis (Prudential anukunta) are doing excellent. Not so great from ICICI. ICICI create wealth for themselves not for customers.

If you are allowed to do MFs SIP in india. Now is a good time to start with a big lumpsum. Indian markets have fallen a lot .

No way it's a trap... Buy a term insurance for 1cr (yrsly premium would be 40-60k) depending on your age and do a sip for remaining amount (5 lakhs) every month around 40k for 5 years and leave it for same period like 15 yrs.. your corpus would be around 2 cr..  this way you get 1cr insurance and a lump-sum after 20 yrs and do what ever you wish..

BOTH.

SBI i did almost 7-8 years back . almost same plan like TS said. ippudu more than double vundi.
after some years or even now  i can you can withdraw them . or end of the maturity that money can be in bank , and you get monthly untill your death.

as well as do some in S&P as well.

SBI plan fees is high, Any plan with insurance+investment is a NO NO - the insurance component ends up eating al your payment premiums.

There are so many good and solidly backed funds for S&P 500 investment with minimal fees. Indian stocks meeda ikkada undi pettadam no no imo. Inflation, forex, fund fees ivanni calculate cheyyadam chala kashtam for the normal joe.

Take term life insurance and invest the rest in a DCA driven portfolio slowly. Remember - you should start but need be waiting to invest. Starting and keeping up is >>>>buying at the right price.
