As far as I know, Same coverage @fasak_vachaduuncle .. when u are employed with that company .. only difference is, company contribution kuda pay cheyali .. like monthly 300$ pay chesthe .. when u take COBRA if employer was paying 80% .. instead of 300$ u will end up paying 1500$..

avva kaavali buvva kaavali antaav, edhokati mundhu insurance vundatam manchidhi kadha ra Bujji 😉

The worst plan that my company offers costs $900 from company’s pocket. With cobra, I get a chance to pay $900/month and keep the insurance. Would you be able to afford it?

ledu bhayya.. if your want same coverage then better to take cobra.. outside koncham cheap undachu but you will know the pain when you try to use it

I agree with coverage but it’s a burden for laid off employee to keep paying $1500+ /month.
I have an HSA plan with HMO. 0 out of my hand. Even for basic tests they charge $100+. My employer pays $900/month for it.

Health Insurance is the biggest scam in this country.

Don’t know the size of your company but I see, having a good benefits broker (generally company benefits/HR) work with them to negotiate premiums with insurance providers. Noticed some companies do a very good job of it and tries to keep prices low. Some companies whose benefits team is not robust gets ripped off by these insurance companies with heavy spikes on YOY premiums. Was previously worked for tech company and it’s zero premium for employees (all are paid by company) now with a bank and it’s 500$ month benefits cost (not including copay/deductibles, that comes once we see a doctor ). Glad spouse works for a hospital, hence got a good coverage through her employment.

I never meant to live with out insurance in this country. Its a must.

I was talking about exploring other Insurance options. May be buy from marketplace. People think COBRA is cheap, but its not.

$20B company. We have different options for insurance. Best one if we have health problems is $220/Paycheck for a family. copays are very less. I took the cheapest option which is $0/paycheck. But copays are more. Works out for me.

But my point is that even the worst of the plans, the company pays $900/month for insurance. It's a lot.
