I have wishlist item to do 5.9 /6.7 Cummins engine with manual in a used Mahindra Bolero. Couldn't find leads and reliable sources to do that. I'm not bothered about legality.  On paper adhi Bolero lage untadhi. I want to swap engine with Cummins and do a transmission swap, may be Allison manual or any other truck transmissions locally available in India. Is this something you or your folks can do?

Curious, cummins and allison ki bolero frame asala support chestada? I doubt it. Best bet is to buy crate ls2 and sandwich zf tx to it know

You can always beef up Chassis and tune suspension by adding more leaf springs, torsion bars, bigger struts etc. Bolero chassis is most basic and easy to work around. I already drive a 1/2 ton Dodge with V8. LS2 are not very different and nothing comes close to the brute torque generation ability of a diesel and it's longevity. Cummins is known for that and 5,9 were used in Indy racing too.

Not the suspension, tons of after market is there

talking abt box frame of bolero, don’t think it’s treated rated to carry this weight of Cummins.. i have a 6.4 hemi too so not news to me…

otoh, for diesels better to go from ‘yota or patrol diesel if this is intended to use in Asia

I meant chassis and suspension. Now with box of bolero, that's ok. Miata was swapped with Cummins by custom shops, so I think you can do with bolero too. The engine bay area may need a bit more of welding work , perhaps. If not, a next frame I think of is Force Toophan.

I think Nissan patrol is a 3.0 L turbo diesel. I don't know if they sell the engines separately. I will look into that too.

P.S : I didnt intend to rub you wrong way man; I only told I drive a v8 Dodge , because LS2 doesn't appeal to me as much as a diesel. My family SUVs in INDIA are also diesel.

Diesel engines are very efficient compared to gas or electric. The engines are sturdier with stronger pistons deliver crazy amounts of torque and will handle turbos very well. A simplistic sturdy diesel engine will last a life time.

why do they are not encouraged, normally they are frowned upon for emissions.

You have to understand consumerism for that.  Mass manufacturing vehicles requires you to periodically keep switching them instead of sticking to a long lasting one. By and large most of the products we use today are being designed that way. Laptops, smartphones, cars etc.

Diesel engines are infact way more environment friendly compared to gasoline engines  and they emit less CO2 and green house gases. No comparison with electric which are most polluting cars. Now, a sturdy diesel engine will not be expensive on your wallet and therefore you're not likely going to spend more. Emissions and other crap are way to make you pay more for inferior products.

The problem is mass media conditioning public telling them that diesel is bad. But ask any hauler who use bolero or sumo or toophan or even an auto about petrol they will tell you otherwise.
