Musk's game plan - Exclusive-Trump's transition team aims to kill Biden EV tax credit $7500

President-elect Donald Trump's transition team is planning to kill the $7,500 consumer tax credit for electric-vehicle purchases as part of broader tax-reform legislation, two sources with direct knowledge of the matter told Reuters.

Ending the tax credit could have grave implications for an already stalling U.S. EV transition. And yet representatives of Tesla - by far the nation's largest EV seller - have told a Trump-transition committee they support ending the subsidy, said the two sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

ONLY TESLA has edge to weather this situation. Musk can throw other incentives for the upcoming buyers to compensate against the cancelled tax credits . Other manufactures RIP

Ante naa Rivian stock 10ginatte ga...

Does Rivian currently has eligibility for 7500 rebate? if so, yes would have tough time to adjust market dynamics. But i think Rivian customers are Millionaires like you they don't depend on rebates...

Other manufacturers will have no or less impact. Fed odu iche $7500 tho automobile and EV companies nadipithe iga ayinatte…its a siober lining but not oxygen.

7500 discount ichi vunnavi antha attractive price ki ammutaru…Tesla will be gold standard in EV’s and then there will other EV’s which are just EV’s.

All those new RIVN model that they introduced few months back will be useless. They will lose it with the tax credit.

That $45K price point customers are very sensitive to this tax credit and pricing.

Model X or S konetodu federal credit kosam chudadu.. same with Rivian too..

These federal credits are for people who buy regular cars in the 30-50K range as that would be a 20% discount

TSLA, RIVIAN, LUCID can survive as they have specific customers. TSLA will be for cheap car and other 2 for Luxury segments. Rest like FORD, CHEVY, CADILLAC they are struggling to market their products. they are neither in a position to go for aggressive marketing by slashing down prices Nor keep the prices same without having $7500 , both options will kill them.

All manufacturers are struggling to make money on their cheaper models and Tesla is the only one that is making money on them… Ford/Chevy etc make lot of money on their big cars and trucks… Anduke small car manufacturing Mexico ki shift chesaru.. now they had to build new assembly lines for electric cars and they are losing money on these cars and struggling to make them profitable..

Rivian and Lucid cannot survive just on their high end models (even Tesla struggled to make profits before launching model 3).. they have to make low end models that they can produce in high volumes to become profitable..

Rebate is available for cars less than 50k + full manufactured in US or affiliated countries or something like that. R2 will fall into that category but not R1 and release target is 2026. R2 is their biggest bet

how does this benefit tesla?

destroy competition. they already have mass production. others have to ramp up and their profit margin will drop

i guess lot of car company anticipated this. so they established their factories in red states, with no unions - providing employment. ex. hyundai in georgia. may they  need to crank the volume of sales with their models to be competitive with tesla pricing. same with  other manufacturers. gm/ford/chevrolet have unions. will be interesting  how they deal with this.
