Indian mindset not oriented towards problem definition and solving: Infosys Narayana Murthy

Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy cited India’s lack of problem-solving in certain technologies, saying that the country should not yet invest in building its own large language models (LLMs).

“We have not been able to build large databases, and without big data, AI (artificial intelligence) has no value. A large language model (LLM) doesn't make any sense. Basically, the Indian mindset is still not oriented towards problem definition and problem-solving,” Murthy said in an interview with Moneycontrol.

Nonetheless, detractors of Indian LLMs maintain that India is bringing a services mindset to the nascent technology, instead of building at the foundational layer.

"Which area has (India) invented? Please give me an example," Murthy asked, highlighting the country’s dependence on adapting foreign technologies rather than creating innovations.

How will you have data on your own when even the basic browser you use is not your own ?

Adhi Murthy cheppalsina avasaram emundhi? This guy is also a mere profiteer from cheaper labour and not any inventor. Nothing inherently bad about it, but goes on to lecture Indian youth to work for 70 hours.

Nah, India has been enduring Islamic invasion for many centuries. That can be dealt with. What cannot be dealt with is Indian politicians mortgaging entire Indian middle class for generations to come at Zionist entities like World Bank and IMF and accepting propositions from Zionist Corps, and WEF.

This made Indian corps to be mere back door service providers at cheaper costs. Unless you protect your middle class PPP, not borrow and then invest in your own research things are hard to change.

Manolla EGO ae range lo untadhante...evadinaina ee question adugu ventanu vaadu

- Indians invented zero without which there is no mathematics

-  we invented TVs which was already shown in Maaya Bazaar movie

- Pushpak Vimaan was already used in Ramayana

Hence we are great and world should know our greatness and hence we settle in foreign countries to spread our greatness.

Why this hate on him? He is giving general advise which makes sense from a viewpoint - without data what will LLMs achieve, and he is saying it’s probably better to build using existing ones.

He also says why point out infosys like service industries for not being innovative when that criticism can be done for many other industries in India.

He is right ... But the mind set is changing a little bit now .. Entrepreneurship has increased and lots of startups .. But they should start focusing on originality rather than copy ideas (Zomato, Money transfer apps, etc) .. Venture capitalists are also increasing. It will take time, but its a start.

antha class peeketodu why didn't he put money into R&D and develop any product? His company was into software during it's boom start to now and all they cared about is making profits through consulting. While his words are true, he's (and the top executives of that era) big part of the problem.
