Moon_Walker
Illegal immigration from Canada to the US has seen a staggering ten-fold surge in just two years, with over 14,000 Indians arrested along the border in 2023. Indians now account for 60% of all arrests at this crossing. Economic struggles, long visa waits, and organised smuggling networks are driving this desperate migration. Smugglers exploit vulnerable migrants, while political tensions and extremism in Canada add to the crisis. With the US already housing over 725,000 undocumented Indians, calls for effective immigration reform are growing louder as desperation fuels dangerous risks. Canada always has had a severe underemployment problem. Trudeau made the tax burden brutal. I vividly remember pre Trudeau me filling my 1/2 tonn truck with regular gas under $1 sometimes even got premium for that price. I used to pay $600 for single bed in a shared townhouse. Food used to be a lot cheaper. Trudeau came and then immigration skyrocketed then came the RE bubble built by investors and money launderers. It's only compounded by diploma mill international students (read desperate Punjabi, Gujarati, Mallu, Tamil, Telugu students) and score cut offs for Express Entry were reduced, and that brought in massive number of people. In tandem it got even more complicated by never ending Asylum seekers. People once in Canada realized that it's a mismanaged country that is only interested in their taxes but doesn't give them leg up, then realized it's better to be illegal in the US. I drove down to Boston once and went to a Desi Telugu store and was talking to a chef there. He told me he was being paid $5000 a month US, plus free accommodation. Adjusted for exchange he was making more than a lot of white collar workers in Ontario. When people realize it, the motive becomes clear. I think Trump is going to make border crossing even tougher. Even though I was not affected by it (I have about 100 entry exits and counting in my I94) , I have already seen many Indians being pulled into the secondary for last couple of years. Canada's American embassies B visa slots are over booked and rejections for Indians have skyrocketed too.

I don't know why managing such a country is an issue when the population is less than that of Telangana and GDP is amongst top 10. for example Norway. despite the high tax burden people seem to be happy there. Canada's economy was strongest during the post world war II years when the government was smallest. Over years the government kept growing so did taxes. Then came the free trade agreement that decimated the manufacturing jobs and moved them to Mexico. The natural resources were taken by American Corps and then the Chinese corps. To keep the country afloat, government channeled the investments into RE. Constructing and selling houses. Canadians and immigrants buy mortgages whereas the money launderers reap profits. Politicians benefit because they own multiple properties. For this scheme to work, you need population densification. Throw in many more people in the same area so that a Shaq sells for million. People are desperate for making a living so corps pay you less and laugh all their way to the bank. You are here to make your over lords rich and be compliant without asking questions, not the other way around.

Rightly said, Adding to that, "Healthcare Wait Times" The system’s so overloaded now that “free healthcare” feels more like “wait forever for care.” It’s tough for both newcomers and locals to actually get what they need without months of waiting. "Skilled Workers Getting Stuck: Tons of skilled immigrants come in but can’t work in their fields. So, you’ve got engineers driving cabs and healthcare workers working retail.
