Atul brother People often misunderstand "dowry" concept. Historically and even today Men stand as providers to women. Even so called feminist women don't chase men that don't earn. They want successful men too. From the days before "Women empowerment" and "quota" hiring of women in the name of empowerment and diversity and what not, dowry was seen as a capital that women brought when the couple started a family. She doesn't earn much and family grows so that capital is to ensure financial success. Problem came when in laws families greed exceeded the means of Bride's family. Today dowry works in perfect market place too. Rich parties marry rich parties. Only middle class and upper middle class suffers due to these ideologies. Unfortunately this group is least united as they are pulled in the directions of caste, region, religion, language, ideology etc. all the time. All customs and laws are put in place with good intentions.. but are misused and eventually the misuse becomes the norm.. If everyone strictly follows equal sharing of assets to all kids irrespective of the gender, we can do away with this dowry system… many ppl are already doing it.. Men and Women are NEVER equal, not created equal physically, mentally, emotionally and even intellectually. There is no reason to share the assets equally too. The property division will be based on how the property is acquired. Any division of the self earned property is up to the individual belief system of the owner. Dowry deaths are still very common in the Hindi belt.. thousands of women are still killed every year for dowry related issues.. but unfortunately states became very famous for dowry .. Who said women has no role to play? They are mothers entrusted with raising family. No one asked them not to earn. Even if I were to buy your premise, from the lowest manual labour work (polam, construction, rallu kottadam) to top jobs(surgeons, Entrepreneurs, CEO) the monies earned are significantly different. Every single time like 9/10 times all things being equal, a man outearns a woman. Exception to this would be government mandated pay, even then that doesn't measure productivity. Huh? You started with a premise of dividing assets equally, then shifted to man taking woman responsibilities?

Men and women are equal now, uncle.. in knowledge based society, men and women have equal chances to be successful.. pay may be different bcoz of the biases.. law also mandates that ancestral properties should be shared equally.. society is changing.. men are taking more responsibilities related to child care, child education, house work, etc.. ask any one in this db.. inthaki neeku pelli ayindaa?? 😁

Back it up with numbers. Men have been taking child responsibilities for ages now. It's called being a father. Taagi, tirige vadu tappisthe, every father usually tries to provide better life to his children. Idhedho kothaga vachina marpu annattu chepthunnav? House work antava, it's all division of labour. Idhi kooda mundhu nunchi vasthunnade. Bulk of NRIs are mostly middle class. Cost affordability kosam anthe. Koncham ekkuva sampadinche vallu hire "nanny's" and "housemaids". Guess what they're 100% women. Akkada you're simply substituting one woman with another woman anthe. Ancestral properties gurinchi evadu annadu? Swarjitham gurinchi. Even then, that's a flawed premise. Neeku 10 kotla aasthi unte, 5 kuthriki, 5 koduku ki isthe kuthriki 10 kotla sambandham chesthav, chala varaku. Kodukki 3-5 kotlu sambandham chesthav. Other variables like looks, education, earnings, appudu demand supply koncham tweak chesthayi but by and large idhe scenario. That negatively affects your own male child. Naaku kaledhu. Neeku okkate aada pilla undha? 1
