Hi AP,

Have you reached out to MSD in India directly? PAP (Patient Assistance Programs, known as PSP in Canada, where “S” stands for Support) are widely available in most countries and are typically run by the manufacturer or a PAP provider working closely with them.

These programs often help patients secure coverage through public or private insurance, in addition to offering support with adherence, clinical guidance, side effect management, and more. If insurance is not an option, they usually provide various financial assistance solutions to reduce the cost burden for patients.

I work in the PSP field for a different manufacturer. When I looked up Merck’s Patient Assistance Program (MAP) in India, I couldn’t find any information. I recommend reaching out to them directly to inquire if they offer a PAP. If not, try contacting them multiple times, explaining that you are unable to afford the medication and are hoping for compassionate or charitable (free-of-charge) drug support.

If they do not offer free assistance, ask if they have financial aid options to reduce the cost. Persistence often helps in these situations.

Hope this information is helpful!

yes bro..I too worked on PSP/PAP for most MAB's, but I'm not aware of the scenario in India...the family involved are below poverty line.....but the person treating quoted 2.3lac per dose...so I felt something fishy after watching the bill sheet where it was "PAP free goods to pat.ID" without any amount...

Wow. I hope MSD India supports them. Have they looked into any Non-Profit Cancer agencies that can support them or Arogya Shri (not sure if it is still a thing).

People already go through a lot of mental trauma with illness and to think about drug costs will put them through hell. I hope they find some kind of support. 🤞🏻
