Son punches father 170 times on his face over property dispute in Tamil Nadu and the father dies

A 65-year-old man in Tamil Nadu’s Perambalur died after being thrashed by his son, who was reportedly disgruntled over dividing the family property. His father wanted to divide the entire property equally to his son and two daughters.

This equal division did not go well with Santhosh's wife who triggered her husband to teach some lesson to his father.

The man, Kulandhaivelu, died on April 18,2024, days after he was assaulted by his son Santhosh.

CCTV footage which emerged during the investigation shows Santhosh repeatedly punching his father's face, leaving him bloodied and collapsed. Sathosh took a break only to come back to his father and slapped him 87 more times including punches.

Seeing the assault, other family members intervened and stopped Santhosh. A visibly angry Santhosh is seen trying to continue the attack.

After the death of Kulandhaivelu - owner of a private company, his family filed a complaint, and an investigation was launched.

A case was reportedly registered earlier over the attack after Kulandhaivelu was hospitalised, but was later withdrawn by the request of Santhosh’s wife who begged her father-in-law to withdraw the case. The father withdrew the case as he did not want his son to be sent to jail. After his death, the hospital staff informed the police who later arrested Santhosh . His wife denied any involvement and left home immediately to stay with her parents.

Money over relationships might be important to a few bunch of people, but killing your parents over the same is not expected by any means of nurturing

The biggest problem is reinforcing the equal division of properties among male and female children. This is without basis. A male and female should never have equal distribution of assets. As much as I condemn what the son had done, the father should have thought through this.
