At 35, with a wife and two young kids, your priorities should focus on family well-being, financial stability, health, and personal growth. Here’s a breakdown:

1. Family & Relationships

  • Spend quality time with your wife and kids—childhood goes by fast.
  • Strengthen your marriage through communication and shared experiences.
  • Teach your kids values, discipline, and emotional intelligence.
  • Plan for family experiences like vacations, outdoor activities, and bonding time.

2. Financial Stability & Security

  • Income & Career Growth: Ensure steady career progression or business stability.
  • Emergency Fund: Have 6–12 months of living expenses saved.
  • Life Insurance: Secure adequate coverage for your family's future.
  • Health Insurance: Ensure comprehensive coverage for the family.
  • Retirement Planning: Max out contributions to 401(k)/IRA or other retirement plans.
  • Kids' Education: Start a 529 plan or similar investment for college funds.
  • Debt Management: Pay off high-interest debts and avoid unnecessary loans.

3. Health & Well-being

  • Maintain a healthy lifestyle (exercise, diet, sleep).
  • Get regular health checkups for yourself and family.
  • Manage stress effectively—balance work, family, and personal time.
  • Foster mental well-being (mindfulness, hobbies, social interactions).

4. Home & Stability

  • Ensure a safe, comfortable home for the family.
  • If renting, consider homeownership if it aligns with your financial plan.
  • Childproof your home for safety, especially with a toddler.

5. Personal Growth & Fulfillment

  • Keep learning—career skills, parenting, and financial literacy.
  • Pursue personal hobbies and maintain friendships.
  • Be a role model—show your kids values like discipline, kindness, and hard work.
  • Plan for the future with long-term goals (career, investments, personal aspirations).

Perfect list.

An important thing to consider for better mental health is not being pressured by external factors - Relatives, Neighbors and others.

My suggestion for bettering with 1, is not to plan all your events around other families.

I have a checklist that I follow -
Children's museum 1x every quarter
State/Nat'l parks 1x per quarter
Long drive 2x~3x per year
Beach 3x per year
Zoo 1x~2x per year

Other seasonal things are bonus
