All their kids have now left home and visit once or twice an year and I have noticed that my cousins and relatives are traveling more to India and are spending more time in India after the kids left. I have noticed that some reconnect with their old roots in India like siblings, friends, cousins. Some start exploring the spiritual angle Some are exploring NGO activities like charity, developing their old village etc. But one thing for sure you think with your age you might think that your connection with India diminishes but actually it's the other way around, the older you get the more your connection with India. 

Interesting, I was thinking that it would be difficult to reconnect after so many years

Cant agree more on this....post 2014, holding a property and income source in India is becoming a liability rather than an asset. There are lot of tax complications that modi and co are creating. Ppl
