Even if someone sets up such a massive factory, India does not have the market to consume or export at such scale.

Exactly. India is way behind in the cutting edge technologies such as AI and EV.

We don't even have a basic prototype start-ups. Thus, we can safely assume that massive production in cutting edge technologies is still a distant dream.

Yea..at god speed.

Looking at the speed China has been executing these projects, it would take long time for us to catch up.

I watched number of documenteries related to Chinese projects like the Three Gorges Dam, Shangai Tower, its impossible for us to achieve in near future. Their engineering skills are marvellous.

Saying so, India is a decade behind. We are now moving away from diesel powered transport system to CNG/Hybrid/Petrol with 20% Ethanol blended. Switching over to electric even in a phase wise situation is also not feasible, we also need to invest in electrical infrastructure and grid network and that itself will take a decade.

Consumption is going on a healthy spike, its better we popularize highly efficient plug in cars first and then slowly make a switch over. Its like creating an ecosystem first..
