There is no official ban at all. Tamils still use Caste names. Caste groupings are very common in Tamil Nadu, much like Andhra. Across political lines you will see groupings in highschools, colleges on caste lines like Gounders, Thevars, Vanniyars, Mudaliars, so on.

That's not relevant to the topic at all ,it's about surnames being from pure Dravidian origin.

Where is Varna system in south india? There is no inherent upper or lower castes in south india ,status is based on the amount of influence they have.

They are communities formed based on the work they do .noone says one community is higher than the other

Varna system is a inherently discriminatory system where they have a strict hierarchy where Brahmins are first and Kshatriyas second vaishyas third and rest everyone after them.

No it's not Varna system ,Varna system is a hierarchical system , ,different communities doing different jobs is different ,there is no hierarchy here .

Varna system doesn't exist in south ,it's an indo-aryan way stratification of society.

we have had a rich heritage in the field of science. Unfortunately new generation lo peddaga em visibile ledu ( i could be wrong ). Youth andaru dabbulu cheskune pani lo ne pani chestunnaru. Why take the long & hard road when you can get there in a shortcut mentality.....
