* [b]Zoo Mini-Train Hits Man On Phone[/b]

HYDERABAD: [i]A man, who was walking along the toy train tracks in the Nehru Zoological Park speaking on his [color=red][b][b]mobile phone[/b][/b][/color] on Sunday, was injured after being hit by the train.[/i]

A government employee, M Venkata Swamy (45), who hails from Ganesh Nagar in Karimnagar had come to the zoo with his family on Sunday. Around 2.30 p.m, Swamy was walking next to the minirail track inside the zoo along with his family. Swamy was talking over phone unaware of the train coming from behind. An iron rod attached to the second bogie hit Swamy, before the driver could apply brakes and Swamy got dragged for nearly five metres, police and zoo officials said.

Venkata Swamy was initially rushed to the Osmania General Hospital with severe injuries on his leg and head. He was later shifted to a private hospital in Kacheguda. [color=red][b][b]His condition is said to be serious.[/b][/b][/color]

Though Sunday's accident is probably the first reported, zoo officials said drivers sometimes hit the accelator to make more trips and make some quick money. Being a Sunday and Christmas day, the zoo park saw a huge rush of visitors.

Bahadurpura police registered a case under Section 337 (causing injuries due to rash or negligent act) against the train driver Srisailam, who is absconding.
