There could not have been a better New Year gift for the jawans of the Indian Army. On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Louis Braille, the inventor of Braille language for the visually challenged, a group of visually challenged individuals handed over a frame with Vande Mataram in Braille, to Lt Gen (retd) D B Shekatkar at Renuka Swaroop School. The frame will be displayed at the Army Museum at HQ 15 Corps. The group had recently visited the Indian Army formations in J&K.

During our five-day stay at Kargil, we celebrated Diwali and our lady colleagues felicitated soldiers on Bhaubeej. We also gave them a demonstration on Braille language,” said Satish Navale, one of the members of Divine Vision World Family that organised the event.

The concept of making frame in Braille language was executed by Navale along with other members of the group. They were helped by the students of city- based Renuka Swaroop School in decorating the frame. “To encourage and involve gifted individuals is very important. Such kind of activities help build relationships with soldiers. Inculcating good qualities in youngsters means investing in India’s future,” said Shekatkar.
