39 Naval, 5 Coast Guard Officers Pass Out Of Ins Shivaji

[color=#3F3F3F]As many as 39 Indian Naval and five Coast Guard Officers of the 72nd Marine Engineering Specialisation Course(MESC) graduated from the Centre of Marine Engineering Technology (CMET), INS Shivaji, Lonavala on Saturday, after 79 weeks of training.[/color]


[color=#3F3F3F]Rear Admiral Samir Saran Lal, director general naval design (surface design group) was the chief guest.[/color]


[color=#3F3F3F]All engineer officers undergo the course on completion of three years Basic Engineering Course (BEC) from Naval College of Engineering, INS Shivaji.[/color]


[color=#3F3F3F]Training for the officers include marine engineering specialisation at INS Shivaji for 28 weeks and various short courses on divisional and management course at INS Hamla, leadership capsule at Centre for leadership and behavioural sciences and the marine propulsion control technology course at Defence Institute of Advanced Technology, Pune.[/color]



[color=#3F3F3F]The officers undergo 26 weeks of `on-job training’ for engine room watch keeping on board various Indian Naval Fleet Ships.[/color]


[color=#3F3F3F]The Admiral presented awards and certificates to the graduating officers. The trophy for `standing first’ in academics was awarded to Lt Hemant Pant.[/color]


[color=#3F3F3F]Pant was also adjudged as the ‘Best All Round Officer’ and was awarded the `Chief of Naval the Staff Rolling Trophy’ for excelling in academics, sports and extra curricular activities.[/color]
