[color=#000000][font=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]New Delhi, Jan 11 (PTI) Indian Army and Rashtriya Rifles units deployed in South Kashmir are carrying out massive relief and rescue operations in areas which have received a record snowfall this winter. "Army reached out to public at various places hit by heavy snowfall by carrying out snow clearance on roads, providing essential medical facilities, restoring water and electricity at the medical camps and hospitals through generators," Army officials said here today. The Units reacted voluntarily and spontaneously to provide respite to people living in remote and far flung areas of Badgam, Shupiyan and Pulwama Districts by sending mobile medical teams to these locations, they said. "Approx 500 people have received emergency medical care by the 24 teams comprising medical officers, nursing assistants and paramedics," they added. Along with this, generators were also provided by the RR units to provide electricity at the medical camps. Massive snow clearance operation was also carried out by the units and water bowsers were deployed to reinstate water supply in the affected areas. "The efforts will continue till the time snow is cleared and normal civic activities are restored," they said.[/font][/color]
