[color=#000000] "POSITION PURPOSE: This position requires planning and management of all technical and operational activities associated with database administration function. The individual needs to be fully hands on and be able to independently responsible for the definition, creation, maintenance, performance tuning, capacity planning, problem resolution and software upgrade of the relational database management systems within the computing environments. The individual will need to provide coordination between user, technical, application, and corporate entities to ensure effective database management. Has a willingness to work with customers of various levels of technical expertise. Above all the individual ensures solutions meet business objectives and establishes and maintains a high level of user trust and confidence in knowledge of and concern for users' business needs. Will participate and/or lead large complex projects utilizing RDBMS technologies and will demonstrate a high level of technical lead competency.[/color]

[color=#000000]. Provide first through third-level database support.[/color]
[color=#000000]. Closely monitor performance; identify problems and implement solutions; ensure the database is running at optimum speed and efficiency.[/color]
[color=#000000]. Respond quickly to refresh data; verify implementation of correct backup strategy; develop recovery procedures; support recovery from loss of data caused by user or system error.[/color]
[color=#000000]. Install and upgrade RDBMS and related products to keep RDBMS at the most applicable release and maintenance levels.[/color]
[color=#000000]. Reorganize database structures as needed.[/color]
[color=#000000]. Perform application refreshes on request.[/color]
[color=#000000]. Provide assistance in database design as needed: publish standards and work with development staff; standardize environment and improve efficiency.[/color]
[color=#000000]. Monitor file system space, database allocation, etc.; verify efficient use of disk storage; reclaim dead space; optimize space allocation and avoid out-of space conditions.[/color]
[color=#000000]. Create, develop, and review the physical model created from the logical model, ensuring the de-tailed physical design of data structures and databases complies with appropriate standards, guidelines, and procedures.[/color]
[color=#000000]. Provide the appropriate tools, procedures, and facilities for creating and maintaining the entity data enterprise model.[/color]
[color=#000000]. Produce: entity relationship diagrams, data flow diagrams, database normalization schemas, logical to physical database mapping, data table parameters.[/color]
[color=#000000]. Develop rules, procedures, and standards for the access and maintenance of shared data resources.[/color]
[color=#000000]. Review overall physical database structures for data integrity, performance quality, recoverability, maintenance, and space requirement considerations.[/color]
[color=#000000]. Communicate complex technical information in a concise and articulate manner.[/color]
[color=#000000]. Participate in the evaluation and recommendation of DBA tools and new DBMS technologies.[/color]

[color=#000000] ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: . Operate effectively with minimal supervision and within a clear accountability framework. . Active role as subject matter expert in SQL Server Database specialize areas . Act as situation manager, lead After Action Reviews and conduct root cause analysis . Liaise with Database staff on formalization/documentation of processes, procedures, standards, guidelines, template solutions, etc. . Provide DBA specific services to other parts of the organization such as Service Engineering and other Run & Maintain teams.[/color]

[color=#000000] OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: . Use of end-to-end ITIL processes and tools in order to manage incidents, changes, assets, and service interruptions. . Promoting use of end-to-end processes such as incident management, change management, and situation management . Ensure appropriate escalation actions are taken, using the global tools and processes available . Involved in any operational changes to the service, organization, tools and processes . Interface with other parts of the Hosting &Storage delivery organization in an open and constructive way. . Asset Management; contribute to a 100% accurate administration of supported assets, agreed service levels and billing. . Looks to improve efficiencies of processes. . Work to solve problems, produce documentation, and share learning with counterpart teams. . Participate in on-call pager rotation for reactive support and respond to monitoring alerts in a timely manner. . Ensure that work is properly documented and saved in a central repository according to specific service guidelines. . Ensure that customer satisfaction in all interactions meets the contracted Customer Service levels. . Maintain a high level of Customer Satisfaction. . Conveys goals and objectives clearly, interprets customers' requirement and implement the expected service delivery. . Influence others with tact and diplomacy and convince others to gain cooperation and eliminating conflict. . Maintain a well developed network of individuals and organizations to assist in achieving work related goals. . No direct budget responsibility but position has impact on the Systems spend/recovery . Customers: Supported globally. . Services impact: high indirect accountability; downtime of database services would have major potential impact on the customer's business.[/color]
