Hyderabad, Feb 2: Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao has said that late YSR’s wife Y S Vijayamma had addressed a letter to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh alleging that the State government was forcing them to remember Emergency days in the State, was only to gain sympathy and to divert the attention of the people from the CBI inquiry into the amassed assets of the YSR Congress Party Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Hanumantha Rao also addressed a letter to the Prime Minister explaining the facts prevailing in the State with regard to Jagan and CBI case.

Addressing the media at Fateh Maidan Club here on Thursday, Hanumantha Rao alleged that there was no Emergency in the State now, but there was an Emergency like situation during late YSR regime. He has alleged that the real party workers had remembered dark days of Emergency during late YSR regime. He also alleged that Jagan and his newspapers published news against him remembering Emergency days during YSR regime.

Alleging that Vijayamma had addressed letter to the Prime Minister afraid of CBI inquiry fearing that the facts would come out, Hanumantha Rao said that Jagan, who questioned authority of the high command was now addressing letters to the Congress high command. He also said that the CBI could arrest political leaders if they found evidence against them. “IAS officers are asking me why the CBI was only arresting IAS officers and what about political leaders”, he said. The UPA government has history of keeping former Union Communications Minister A Raja and DMK supremo M Karunanidhi’s daughter Kanimozi in the jail.

He also said that CBI Joint Director V V Laxminarayana was doing well and would arrest even Rajya Sabha member Dr KVP Ramachandra Rao if he gathers proof against the latter and Jagan will also meet the same fate. He observed that some people were criticizing Laxminarayana as he was conducting investigation against Jagan. He said that the State government has to recover the tainted money from the culprits and keep them in the jail.

Asked whether there were any differences between the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and PCC Chief Botcha Sathyanarayana, Hanumantha Rao said that there were no such differences between them.

He asked the Chief Minister to fill the nominated posts at the earliest to render justice to real party workers and it would also help the party to go to the people seeking votes in the ensuing Local Body elections. He said that the Leader of Opposition and TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu was gearing up for the Local Body elections by touring the State in the name of Rythu Poru Bata and BC Sadassulu and the Congress should do the same. “I am ready to tour the State to participate in the campaigning”, Hanumantha Rao said.
