How Does Forum Moderation Work? Jara Suggestions Ivvandii..

Nenu naa office work kosam oka FORUM (Discussion) board chestunna..(Silverlight lo).. I just want to know how the FORUM moderation actually works.

for eg:

1) Does some one constantly monitor all the topics and their replies so that they can delete inappropriate threads and comments?
2) Is the Profile Status purely based on no of posts?
3) Should it be allowed that forums members be allowed to delete the topics / threads they created?

mama ... for u r 1st question .... eppudu evaroo okaru constatnt ga moniter chesee badhu lu profanity filter lanti concept eminaaa rasukoo..

java lo aithy filters aneee concept untundi so all incoming requests Lani with profanity words(bad words) list tho filter chesi then only aa topic lo post cheyanisthundi .... apart from that elagu report anee link untundi so user can manually report to modarator ......

--yes usually there will be multiple moderators.. users will also have an option to report inappropriate threads.. when users report them an email notification can be sent to moderators... when the action is taken mod can resolve the reported issues in that way other mods know who resolved it..


2) Is the Profile Status purely based on no of posts?

--It is mostly on the no of posts.. this depends on the forum layout.. when an user posts abusive topics we can alter his status.. ex:- you have a war bar under your profile... the warn status can change based on your posts.. the total number of posts is purley based on the number of topics.. profile stats can be measured differently too.. say amount of time online... max number of topics started etc..


3) Should it be allowed that forums members be allowed to delete the topics / threads they created?
--Members should be allowed to modify the content they posted..(this could change from forum to forum..) In some forums members are not allowed to edit the content... if your forum is some technical forum it is better not to give user permissions to modify their content..
